Symmetry
She orders dessert, a thing of egg white and cream called 'snow'. As he watches her devour it, she confesses, "It's the one thing I miss from where I was."
"And you don't mean pudding."
"Snow." She starts stirring the pudding into parallel peaks. "Now I'm in California and I don't know if I'll ever see snow again."
"Fred." He touches her hand, and it's a shock of warmth. "You know I haven't never been out of the state and you go making me jealous with how-it-snows-in-hell stories?"
She looks up from her plate. "I asked for an extra spoon."
